After that, I went to camp for two weeks... it's a Christian camp that I've been going to pretty much my entire life. The first week was there more intensive bible study week that you take before you want to staff. I actually really enjoyed it, I feel like I learned a lot and hope that it had a positive impact on my life. A bunch of my friends from past years came back, as well as the counselor who's been counselor for my cabin for the past four years, and it was wonderful seeing them all agian. I also met quite a few awesome new people... our cabin was actually made of two cabins that functioned as one, which was a little strange at first, but by the end we all felt like one cabing... [we named ourselves Tweven...eleven and twelve combined.]
Anyways, week afterwards that was Family Camp, which I junior staffed at. I was on housekeeping crew, which basically is the group of staff that runs around cleaining bathrooms, the dining hall, and selling candy to small children at the snack shop... though that last part wasen't all that bad, as it was family camp and most parents sort of kept the kids sugar consumption in check, so it mainly consisted of sitting in the snack shop and listening to the Superchic[k] CD that the head of housekeeping kept playing all week... xDD if I even get any of those songs on my iPod, I shall forever associate them with cleaning chemicals...
It may not sound like fun, but I REALLY enjoyed that week... the thing that really made awesome it was staying in the Farmhouse, which is the old, kind of falling apart but still cool building that the junior staff stay in....I met a lot of amazing, hilarious people, and it was just a really great week. Our house parents [counselors for the staff house] found a devotional book based around Napoleon Dynamite, and we all watched it at the beginning of the week... [I'd never seen it before...I FINALLY understand all the lines I constantly hear quoted from it...] and during the week we did this giant scavenger hunt where we split into two teams and had to go around camp trying to find or make things like chapstick, a delicious bass, a handicraft, 80's music, and other Napoleon Dynamite related stuff, and then at the end of the week on Friday we had a competition between the teams consisting of a teatherball tournament, a skit, and a dance competition... MAN that was interesting... ;] and incredibly hilarious... [one team did a reenactment of the wedding song at the end with guys dressed up as Napoleon, Kip, and LaFonda....yes, the one who did LaFonda wore a dress..and makeup... o_o and the Kip was hilarious, he sang the entire song that the real Kip does in the movie...]
anyways, all in all I've had a great past few weeks...I'm home for two weeks and then heading back to camp for another week of staffing and another week of camping, looking forward to seeing a few of my friends from camp again...
Although it was odd being so seperated from the rest of the world...you don't hear about world events very quickly, I remember at one point I was having a really serious spiritual conversation with my counselor when all of the sudden this guy goes running by and I hear him scream MICHAEL....JACKSON....IS....DEAD!!!! at the top of his lungs...interesting way to find those kind of things out... o_o
and I come home to find out that my best friend has a boyfriend and a job now, and I was only gone for two weeks... o_o;;;
